Ring of Stormcalling
The Royal fleet no match for the pirate queen, for unbeknownst to her persuers, the canny woman had been given a great boon - a ring that called forth a tremendous gale that filled their sails, and with it, the most ferocious tempest that surrounded all the ships and tossed them about like toys in a water trough. Only the pirate vessel remained untouched, and they fled under the cover of the rain and lightning with their ill-gotten treasures. - 'A guide to the Royal Treasury of Far Lands', Florian Fairweather, Elven diplomat.
Made from 925 Sterling silver and found beach glass, the Ring of Stormcalling is a one-of-a-kind ring with a truly sea-kissed nature. The band fits a UK size O and is 4.2mm in width. It features a beautiful pale blue coloured piece of found sea-glass that is highlighted by the sterling silver backing and setting.
Given where I live on the Central Coast, the beaches, mangroves and cliffs play a major part in my surrounds, and it's of great importance to me that these areas are kept clean both so that they can be enjoyed for many years to come, both by the people that love them, and by the wildlife that make their homes there. It's common for me to pick up rubbish when I get to go for a walk along my favourite spots - bits of net, fishing line, plastic bottles and other bits of refuse that have washed up after a high tide all end up in the bin, rather than being a potential deathtrap for native creatures. Unfortunately, as pretty as it is, glass is no different. Before it has been tumbled by the unrelenting waves, it poses a risk to anyone unfortunate enough to step on it, or mistake it for something edible.
In making pieces like this, I try to both bring awareness to the impact that human refuse can have on our environment, but also try to find the beauty in the way nature changes the items we leave there. All the once-jagged parts of this piece of glass have been tumbled down by the sand and waves to a beautiful smooth, frosted finish, a process that takes years! To me, it is a reminder that we are part of something much greater than any one individual, and also that the sand that we used to create the glass in the first instance will slowly be reclaimed by nature.
All items on this store are hand made, and due to the nature of this, there may be minor deviations from the item pictured. While all care is taken with my work, minor changes like pattern placement are inevitable, especially between ring sizes. Small changes can also be present between items made in batches, often due to the nature of the materials used.
Please make sure you check the jewellery care guide to get the most out of your item.
