Blessings of Epona, Dark Finish

Between the fog and the full moon, the sound of hoofbeats drums out a staccato beat across the plains. The ghostly form of Epona shimmers in the haze; Great Mother, goddess of those who protect the small, heartbeat of the land, patron of those who care kindly for beast of burden, and the driving force believed to turn the seasons. She is protective and loving of all her foals, offering her unbridled strength to those who seek her. - 'Legends and Myths from the Greater Kingdoms', Portia Honeysuckle, Halfling schollar.
 
The Epona pendant is one of a limited run pendants, featuring the mythos-inspired horse figure carved from wax, then cast in brass, hand finished and sandblasted back to a raw, primitive finish, which has then been left to oxidise naturally. She is then fused onto a completely unique reticulated 925 sterling silver disk, and a Cubic Zirconia is tube set oppsite her on the disk.  A sterling silver bail is added, and the process of finishing and polishing (or adding a patina) begins until I am satisfied with the result. She is then put on a sterling silver chain and dearly admired until she is ready to go to her new home. This pendant has had all silver and brass given a patina to bring out the incredible sparkle of the champagne-coloured CZ stone, and the beautiful form of the sculpt. This particular piece has been given a matte finish on the brass and then both the brass and the silver have been oxidised and given a very mild polish to add contrast to the depth of colour in the metal.
 
Pendant and chain, all up the Epona weighs in at roughly 18 grams, though that number may vary slightly based on the handmade nature of the peice. The chain is sterling silver and has a 21cm drop from the bail to the catch, and should provide a very comfortable fit. The pendant itself measures 4cm x 3.3cm.
 
All items on this store are hand made, and due to the nature of this, there may be minor deviations from the item pictured. While all care is taken with my work, minor changes like pattern placement are inevitable, especially between ring sizes. Small changes can also be present between items made in batches, often due to the nature of the materials used.
